Calm before the storm.....?
Submitted by Oram & Kaylor on May 15th, 2017Trying to accurately predict the movement of the financial markets is akin to predicting the weather. No one really knows, and we have to wait to see what actually happens.
I just wanted to take a brief moment to recognize the gross volatility in the stock markets over the last few days.
As I type this the S&P500 Index closed down just over 6% for the last two market sessions (source: Yahoo finance). While no one exactly knows what causes such events, we can speculate that this recent movement is in direct correlation to the coronavirus. Is this a normal market correction or is panic selling starting to accelerate this downward trend? I would speculate that this just the excuse many needed to sell off this roaring bull market. Only time will tell how low the markets will go before they stabilize.
Please know that we are keeping on close eye on how this recent activity will affect the economy and by extension your investment accounts. I suspect this volatility will continue for another few days or weeks and I would not be at all surprised if we see an overall correction of 8-10%.
Stay tuned for additional information and direction….
Until next time,
Darin
